About Me

Hello, my name is David Silva and I am running for Buellton’s District 4 City Council seat. Living almost my entire life in Santa Barbara County, I was so excited for my family to make Buellton our forever home. I would like to serve as your councilmember to continue to improve and enhance the city of Buellton so that current and future residents can enjoy a safe, vibrant, and caring community. If elected, my top priorities would be:

To support and encourage the diversification of local businesses
To make environmental sustainability and conservation part of Buellton’s culture
To bring a thoughtful perspective to the housing needs of our community
To support equity and amplify the voice of all community members in my district
To strengthen Buellton’s infrastructure for families, children, and senior citizens
And, most importantly, to hold myself accountable to government transparency

If given the opportunity to be your councilmember, I will bring a dynamic perspective to social issues, create a responsible process for economic concerns, and celebrate Buellton’s diverse and thriving community. I believe that politics are best when differing opinions are respected. I feel a personal responsibility to serve the community and strive to make positive change for all our community members.

You may be asking yourself, “What qualifies David to be in politics?” I asked myself that before running as well. Through my work in the non-profit world, I have seen how engaged and passionate people can transform their community. I believe that this commitment—along with my decade of work in fundraising and nonprofit administration—make me qualified to serve you. I recognize that I may not be an expert in many things, but my strength lies in my humility. I want to use my platform to hear from those in the community who are the true experts.

In government, decisions should not be made behind closed doors. I would like to bring change to Buellton’s government structure to engage our residents. Accessibility and transparency would be the heart of my work. Together, I hope we can make Buellton even better and share pride in the legacy we leave for future generations.
